Who we are

At Heroics Sports Lounge, we believe nobody should have to ask for women’s sports to be put on the screen. We opened our doors with a simple mission: to create a space where fans can gather, celebrate, and enjoy women’s sports front and center — not tucked away in the corner.

Located at 2005 Ingersoll Avenue in Des Moines, in the Historic Sherman Hills neighborhood, Heroics is part of a growing national movement of sports bars dedicated to women’s athletics. Inspired by trailblazing venues like The Sports Bra in Portland, we set out to build something uniquely ours — a place where the energy of women’s sports fills the room, the TVs are tuned to the games that matter, and the community comes together to cheer, connect, and belong.

Heroics is co‑owned by Jami Behun and LaQuita Lucas, two entrepreneurs who saw the need for a space that reflects Iowa’s proud tradition of women’s athletics. Whether it’s the WNBA Finals, NCAA volleyball, pro soccer playoffs, or the newly launched women’s baseball league, you can count on Heroics to have the game on.

Our lounge features wall‑to‑wall screens, a welcoming patio, and a menu of swanky cocktails alongside partnerships with local food purveyors. We’re proud to be queer‑owned and LGBTQ‑friendly, but most importantly, Heroics is for everyone — fans, families, teams, and anyone who wants to experience the excitement of women’s sports together.

We’re more than a bar. We’re a community hub, building connections with local clubs, college teams, and neighbors who share our passion. At Heroics, you’ll always find the game you came to see, the people you want to meet, and the atmosphere you’ve been waiting for.
